Have you ever felt down or depleted right after a show ended?
Would you like a chance to rest, reflect and recover in a supportive environment?
Do you have a premiere/opening in May or June 2026?
The post-partum clinic is a care experiment in the form of a week-long residency taking place right after the “end” of a project. It offers selected Vienna-based artists studio space, time and optional hands-on support to navigate the aftermath of their last creation. The residency, hosted by Claire Lefèvre with the support of other members of kuntsverein, will be tailored to the artist’s specific needs and organized around two main axis: artist care and post-production support.
Artist Care
Individual support focusing on physical, mental and emotional recovery. Resident artists are offered cooked meals, somatic work sessions (breath work, massage) and conversation partners to process their experience with. The aim of this axis is to relax their nervous system, reduce their reproductive labor and allow them to reset, unload, and recover.
Post-Production Support
Hands-on support focusing on feedback, mentoring, and support with the long term plans of the artist. Resident artists are offered one-on-one sessions with kuntsverein members and professionals in the association’s network who have attended their exhibition/performance/filmscreening/concert/book launch to receive feedback. They are also offered optional support with administrative tasks such as touring advice or updating their portfolio. Each artist is also put in touch with members of the Verein who share similar artistic interest, to connect them with a network of potential future collaborators and mentors.
A fee of 500 euros is offered to the selected artist to compensate their recovery work. This is not a stay-over situation, so we kindly ask that only artists based in Vienna or living in Vienna for that time, apply. The post-partum clinic will open for the week of June 22-26, 2026. Please only apply if you are available during those dates. To apply, send an email to claire.lefevre@kunstverein.at by April 30th including the following
The selection will take place in May 2026 and be made by the members of the kuntsverein as a group.
The space is not wheelchair accessible. There is no shower. There will be a place to nap. We encourage artist parents to apply (kids are welcome to come along).

The post-partum clinic is a care experiment inspired by Claire Lefèvre’s Performance Doula practice: a project investigating care work and emotional labour within the cultural field, and applying artistic tools to tackle issues of sustainability, post-production support and burn-out prevention.
